Kia ora whānau,
Re: Our school requirements under RED light.

As we know, the Covid situation isn’t easing and we are required to take some extra precautions regarding safety practices that we can follow in order to maintain the safest conditions possible in and around Ōwhata School. Some of the points below are reminders about what was expected under alert level 2.

We know the current climate is causing some anxiety and uncertainty – we consider all views and perspectives and our leadership team has decided to take the following steps:

We can only have one family member in and around the school if necessary, wearing a mask unless exempt from doing so. The only time we expect this to be happening is if you are accompanying your child to school and settling them in for the morning or picking up. We expect this more in the junior end of the school.

Please make sure you sign in at the office – scan in using our QR code.

Social distancing is a key element, when approaching staff or near other students, please keep a respectful distance of 2 metres.

Please do not enter the classrooms, the office staff can go to classes to get students and organise times to chat with teachers if needed.

We have 2 prizegiving events coming up and this will only be available on live stream (Facebook). This is non-negotiable. We will do our best to capture both events and we have an awesome photographer to capture the special moments. We are sorry this is the case, however, we prioritise the safety of our tamariki, staff, and community.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
